Iago
By Cado Angelus

Don’t talk to me of politics,
Of hatred, lust and greed,
All that caused this tragedy,
Was a mans love of his wife,
With a little help from me

My motive was but simple love,
I had no dreams of power,
Jealousy was my master now,
And I his most loyal servant,
A slave to the green eyed monster

He chose his lust over my love,
And for that he paid my forfeit,
His soul mine by right of vengeance,
To be twisted and warped as I saw fit,
To dwell within the durance of my hate

Yet I cannot help but feel some sorrow,
A moment’s regret for what I did,
I destroyed the proudest man alive,
All because he loved not me, but her,
And yet I would do this all again

For what else is love if it is not,
The will to do what must be done,
In order to make them only yours,
And in the end that is what I did,
And in his death he is mine forever

Okay, its finally finished, it has taken me a MONTH to write this. If it confuses anyone, the reason i named it Iago, is that I wrote it about my perceptions of Iago's motives for destroying Othello. I read his revenge more as the actions of a lover spurned, than someone who is upset about not getting a promotion. and of course there is some scenes in the play that point towards this idea. If anyone disagrees with me, feel free to argue, but please, no arguing unless you have actually read/seen the play, or seen one of the better movie appropriations. my recomendation for movie appropriations would be one that goes by the same name as the play, i.e. Othello, but it is set in modern day london, and instead of the Italian army, Othello is the head of the Metroploitan Police, and it has a great cast, it stars Christopher Eccleston (the new Dr Who) as Iago.

And now for the dedications............ i dont like doing this, but it takes me so long to write these damn poems that i sometimes have to dedicate them to more than one person................ and this one is dedicated to three people:
Firstly, ~MahadosKnight as her prize for getting me to 300 page views :), sorry it took so long. Secondly, to *Pensinpotatoes as a birthday present, sorry im so very very late :( i hope you like it................. And last, but most definately NOT least, to =Aku-Starfire love you  and many thanks to you for the excellent preview picture

Honestly it was a tragedy but the fact that she killed the one she loved out of pure jealousy is no reason to feel sorry. I would think before ever doing something like that, truly a great poem. But if she loved him so much wouldn't she want him to be happy, perhaps I sould read Othello...hmmm I think I will. Awww I want to cry now...I feel slightly depressed.

As I had feared means nothing dear."

haha...you're description is longer than the poem...sorry I find that funny.

A month..that's a long time...most I've ever spent is 3 nights and that was over 500 lines.

I like the poem a lot...probably your best that I've read....I don't really understand it in context but I've not read Othello.

Really like the line about him chosing lust over love.
